First Priority Bank Sponsors Lancaster Farmland Trust
10th annual Pedal to Preserve

Malvern PA – First Priority Bank was proud to be the Title Sponsor of the 10th annual Lancaster Farmland Trust Pedal to Preserve bike ride in Lancaster County.   Raising over $65,000 and with support from 55 other businesses, this year’s cycling event to benefit farmland preservation reached record fundraising and participation levels.

“Nine hundred cyclists from central and southeastern Pennsylvania, as well as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland enjoyed a day touring Lancaster County’s picturesque countryside, rest stops, hot lunch, and drinks and ice cream. I am delighted that so many cycling enthusiasts, recreational riders, and families came out to enjoy a wonderful day and help save farmland,” commented Karen Martynick, Executive Director of Trust. “The money raised from this event will go toward helping the Trust preserve the farms on our waiting list this year

Over 60 preserved farms were showcased along the three bike routes and helped riders experience first hand what a treasure we enjoy in Lancaster County,” Martynick continued.

Rob Barber, Pedal to Preserve Committee Chairman, said, “I came across so many riders who commented on the breathtaking scenery – scenery that many of us take for granted everyday.” “It’s our responsibility to educate the community on the importance of farmland preservation. This ride provides an excellent opportunity to preserve Lancaster County farmland while enjoying the scenery on well-marked, traffic-controlled bicycle routes for all ages and abilities,” Barber continued.

Lancaster Farmland Trust is a local, nonprofit organization that helps farmers preserve their farmland for the future generations to enjoy. Since 1988 the Trust has preserved over 16,000 acres of farmland and 292 farms in Lancaster County.
